Greetings, exquisite beings of light!

Fine imagery.

A moment made tangible. A picture speaks a thousand words, and volume. We tend to orbit with accomplished, talented photographers of the performing arts.

Recently, Michael was randomly called to a unique performance opportunity at the Long Center in Austin - On March 13, she will be modeling for a lighting seminar / photoshoot held in Austin by Houston-based advertising photographer Robert Seale. The seminar is an all-day event targeted at professional photographers, entitled "Thriving in Uncertain Photographic Times," and is being put on by photoshelter.com. Please take a minute to look at the event agenda, and see a sampling of Robert's spectacular photography. Did we mention that it's completely sold out?! Imagine Michael in a photo shoot in front of 150 photographers...

As an advocate of the arts, one of Michael's goals is universal design. This concept is to make art accessible to all people. More on this in future newsletters... In order to become proficient at universal design, it is necessary to heighten the senses to their fullest potential - sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste, balance, temperature, pain, direction, time, proprioreception, intuition. I've written much music musing on the nature of light, and visual art on the stage is a major creative outlet for Creature Rock. The reason I love doing all sorts of creative work, is because it allows alternative access to expression to the senses, outside of music.

I'm very supportive of people learning how images are created, and how light works. In reality, humans can handle and achieve much more than our default senses. We must master the most accessible senses, and then others will be revealed - new dimensions with which to experience the universe. Already, many women would argue that they can sense phases of the moon. Twins regularly defy time and space, as if macroscopically quantum entangled. And many animals, and a few astute people, can sense a person's character.

One of her life goals is to make enough profits with CR to open a wild life preserve for protecting these endangered species. In light of this vision, these next two performances on Fox and at Lamberts are centered around bringing awareness to the world about these great, mystical and magical animals. There is much to be learned about the rare winged creatures who immerse themselves in fire and transform into their magnitude from a small ordinary bird to a Phoenix. A common misconception people have is that their feathers are red and yellow, resembling fire. On the contrary, the Phoenix rises out of the fire reborn of ash and spirit. Its spread is that of spring, greens, turquoise, and purple with a shiny gold aura! To come learn more about the Phoenix and Pink Elephants... please join us at Lamberts Sat. Feb. 6th in your most embellished greens!! Those supporting the awareness of the Unicorn who is purple and cream, sit in fields of green that the Phoenix brings!

2010 - Let There Be Light

Holiday's Light was the First Creation - along with the emergence of light came the core revelations that all of humanity share. We know that light is the fastest thing in the universe, and therefore the fastest way to travel to your heart's center.

In honor of the living light in us all that brings us together in spirit with our family, friends, and fans, we celebrated holiday light with a Creature Candle Ceremony. Michael has a personal tradition of lighting coloured candles to remind her of where she needs to be focusing. (that and she wears red knickers..) A physical affirmation and representation of energy she wishes to bring close to her heart...A yellow candle represents creativity, pink to travel towards love.... we lit white candles for spirit. Tiny beacons of light shone from our creature compound, out into the universe, honoring our sacred connections to the people we love. There was a candle in our circle for our fans!

In 2009, we transitioned from San Francisco to Austin, we recorded the Creature Sessions, won an award, played some great festivals, forged a lasting musical relationship, and bought a house. This year, we'll release the album, tour the East Coast, construct the Pink Elephant Studio, and explore further the forms of artistic media that will carry our message to many, many people.

As the mixing is wrapping up, we're finally metamorphosing from studio rats into performers again! Don't forget that it's you guys who make up our Creature Community! We have fun shows lined up and great musicians! We tell you to come see us, but we perform to see you!

Flamingo Cantina, Jan 21st A mostly female line-up of thunderous rockers including Moonticca and the Texas Clock. This is our first time rocking this venue. It's always good to be at the first of anything! Show starts around 9:30pm.

If you can't make it to the Flamingo Cantina, or you are more of a morning person, then stay in and watch us live on the telly!

Feb 4 at 7:30AM , CR will be LIVE on TV!! Fox 7, on Good Day Austin!! ON-AIR interview and musical performance hosted by news anchors Joe Bickett and Katherine Kisiel. It will be on youtube afterwards, but you can stream it here. Creature Rock TV.....it really is meant to be!

Lambert's, Feb 6 - One more opportunity to see Creature Rock live in Austin on West 2nd St. downtown.....We love this classy spot! Fifth Nation, is returning to Austin from an extended tour of the east coast and we are psyched to have them back!!! We've been burning candles for them regularly. They are our band of kindred spirit. This gig is going to melt some brains and it will be a show you don't want to miss!

Hello beautiful people!

The blackbirds are back in the pink sunset skies of Austin. They migrate here in the winter, carrying souls through the etheric journey of timeless energetic experience. This is a metaphor of life and death... embodied by emotional frequencies embedded in the recording of the Creature Sessions. The birds are a visual reminder to transcend our concept of limitation and treat our time as valuable - we should be cognizant of how, and with whom, we are spending our fleeting moments.

A musical experience is a unifying experience. We are rhythmic creatures, from the beat of our hearts to the fundamental patterns we live by. It is essential to give ourselves the opportunity to be in a place where rhythm and melody were created to exalt the feeling of freedom and passion in you. Climactic sonic messages to carry your vision higher and transcend limited perspective with the birds! You are valuable! You are valuable to us!

Sound carries through all forms of matter and our physical and energetic bodies respond vibrationally to the oscillations, intensity, speed and frequencies through which sound waves are characterized. The word for today is cymatics - the study of visible sound and vibration and its effects on various mediums. Think of ripples in a water surface when deep thunder occurs. Our bodies are made of 70% water. Image in your mind what the soundtrack of your life literally looks like, in physical visible patterns. What sounds should you try to be avoiding or getting more of to activate your brain in a more articulate way?

Speaking of rhythm...

Halloween is the birthday of one James Ichabod Harwood, drummer extraordinaire. Creatures everywhere traditionally come together to celebrate this glorious event, and accordingly, we marched with the Krewe du Coeur Maudit through downtown Austin. Each year, James leads the cadence of the zombie drum corps. Michael with a birds eye view and homemade stilts entranced onlookers as the lone female stiltwalker among a 60,000-strong crowd of costumed revelers. Together they led a 40-foot long dragon down 6th Street, through a tunnel of camera flashes and amazed pink monkeys!

The Back Alley Social SHOW THIS SATURDAY NOV. 14 9:30 PM is right in the heart of downtown Austin!! Fifth St. near the capital building!

We're playing with Fifth Nation and our performance is going to tear the very fabric of space and time. And you know how the creatures love their costumes! This show is also the triumphant return of dancing comet Emily Boykin. The Creature, the Comet, The Ichabod... OH MY! Oh My! Music that is!

After living in the studio all summer, Creature Rock is booked and ready to play! Art Outside 2009: A 3-day Festival of Radical Self-Expression!!

OCT. 9th-11th Rockdale, TX In the spirit of Burning Man, Art Outside is one of Texas' most anticipated annual art events. Presented by the Art Seen Alliance - Held this year on the beautiful grounds of Apache Pass: three stages over 100 artists across all genres. Incredible band lineup, performance art, film and comedy, and some of the most ingenious makers bringing their interactive earth-friendly projects to share with appreciative creative souls. Sponsored by MAKE Magazine, the Onion, Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap (the soap all of us crazy creatures have been using at the campgrounds since high school!) and others. Camp grounds filled with creative spirits, while sleeping and dancing under the stars! A true Art and Music adventure!

Creature Rock will be playing the Variety Stage on Friday, October 9th, 6-7PM.

At long, long last, the Creature Sessions tracking is complete! We've been shopping the mix around and have met with some great engineers and toured some great studios along the way.

The album should be in our hot little hands by year's end, and then comes the release party and serious gigging!

Bring Creature Rock to your town!

Adding to our already busy schedule, the creatures have actually bought a house and are planning the construction of a new Pink Elephant Studio!! In the midst of all this performing and mixdown action, we are actually learning about sound proof building materials, monolithic domes and their effects on acoustics, home inspection, paint, colour, architecture.. building on a large scale with function and artistry. What we learned this week is the concept of sprezzatura (thanks Derek).

Sprezzatura is an Italian word that means "to hide conscious effort and appear to accomplish difficult actions with casual nonchalance."

We've taken on several ambitious projects simultaneously and are completing all of them. It's quite magical to see things unfold with grace and ease. 16-hour days of laughing and learning and doing! Walking the tightrope of sprezzatura is an experience we all can relate to, if we allow ourselves to feel the grandness of space that exists within us. That space is sometimes not obvious. It is a discipline of building character, where you embrace the attitude of effortless ease, and that act becomes the reality. Difficulty truly is only in your mind, for a single thought can transform your choices, values, challenges, obstacles, and efficiency instantaneously. What a freedom we have, if we exercise it!

Creatures in Motion

First of all, RIP Michael Jackson - a misunderstood, talented creature if ever there was one. He has made huge contributions to our musical plane. An unrepeatable entity indeed. We love and miss you, Michael! Please note that Glenn Danzig is still alive! And we love you too, Danzig.

Now on to the process - a frequent topic in the creature quarters, and a central one to the art of creativity. Process as a virtue is sometimes overlooked in the appreciation of art - the "finished product" is assigned a value, commoditized, and revered. But process is the very essence of art, and one could rightly consider works of art just the debris of process, the shadow of the mystical. Entire lifetimes are conceived and terminated during the manifestation of a creative project, and we thought you might enjoy a small insight into what life is like inside the Pink Elephant Studio.

Creature Rock has published a playful music montage to youtube, with some aural previews of the upcoming Creature Sessions album! Check it out and let us know what you think, we had a blast making it. Be sure to subscribe to the creaturerock channel while you're there! We are planning some larger scale projects of this sort since the experience was so rewarding...

Also, at long, long last, a fellow creature rocker has given birth to both myspace and facebook pages! The pages were created and are maintained by one of our lovely fans! Due to the generous, unsolicited contribution, Creature Rock has invited Battah, to be the lady president of the Creature Rock Fan Club. A Deeper Understanding

Creature Rock is the artistic side of the music community. Since arriving in Austin 8 months ago, we have only scratched the surface of Austin's resources. With a vision to cultivate creative collaboration across all media - including dance, videography, fashion design, performance art, and of course, MUSIC, Creature Rock sings to give a voice of self expression to fans and creators alike!

That is why it has been such a huge honor have been a part of the Media Arts and Literacy Festival this past week! We had so much fun performing on all the different stages in Austin and never once repeated a song! And the preparations and community building projects that led up to the event were just as rewarding as the performances themselves.

The MALI Festival was filled with incredible, top-notch filmmakers, poets, and musicians from all over the continent; performers and directors from Seattle, New York, Canada, Arkansas, New Orleans, and California graced the stages for 4 solid days. The opportunity to meet and listen to these amazing women in the arts was a great learning experience for us.

The pool of talent assembled was unbelievable! Which made it even more humbling when Michael and her rotating cast of performers in Creature Rock took home the Community Choice Award!!!! Core Creatures very deserving to share this awesome accolade include Michael's brilliant stick smith- James "Ichabod" Harwood* the fearless dancing comet- Emily Boykin*, at the Austin International Youth Hostel with celestial choreography, Jessica Gaby, and at the Long Center caressing the upright bass, Mr. Scott Yates! Our vision of a Creature Community is really manifesting. And it's really exciting to get billed with other Austin based bands, including Framing Strangers, One Eyed Doll, Patrice Pike and Joanna Barbera. We are definitely looking forward to rocking with these ladies again.

But now the band is going back to the Pink Elephant Studio to lay down the second half of the upcoming album The Creature Sessions. Michael is organizing her evocative imagination. Album art intertwined with her musical rhapsodies and preparations for showcasing its release!!

We're currently looking around for interested collaborators to shoot music videos for the Creature Sessions, so if you know anyone in Austin who's looking for a creative project, let us know!

We have two new Creature stickers for beautifying surfaces everywhere. Both are available here!

Michael on the Radio

Creature Rock Week!!!!

TOMORROW, May 25th, tune in to KOOP 91.7FM, at 11am Central Time, to hear Michael Scott Parker do an in-studio interview and performance on "What's a girl to do?", a free-form Women's Music radio show in Austin, hosted by Lisa Schneider. Getting you ready for the hottest week of women in the arts, at the M.A.L.I. Women's Film and Performance Arts Festival! You can listen online to a LIVE STREAM!

Michael and crew hosted an informal get-together at the South Congress St. bat bridge, where roughly 1 million mexican freetail bats dwell. At dusk each day, they emerge from underneath the bridge, and pour out into the Austin sky, doing the community the invaluable job of lowering the mosquito population. They consumed and we created!

Michael performed a enticing acoustic set with upright bassist Scott Yates at sunset while locals contributed to the Creature Community Canvas and enjoyed Michael's home baked brownies. Dottii and her apprentice seamstresses from Sudan and the Congo, shared creature creations and passed out free CDs to an appreciative audience! Come see Creature Rock on Friday,May 29th at the Green Muse for a rocking 10am brunch and make your addition to her canvas. It will be there!

Creative Creature recently has made a connection with bassist Scott Yates, and is so pleased to have have him in her talent bank! And talented, he is! Scott will be gracing the stage with Michael and her time keeper, James, at the Long Center Performance on Saturday, May 30th, for the M.A.L.I Festival!! Don't miss this show!

And don't forget Thursday, May 28th, opening night of the M.A.L.I. Festival, at the Austin International Youth Hostel. Michael has her two wonderful dancers, who have done a phenomenal interpretation of Michael's music into movement. Emily Boykin, our stellar body and woman of vision, dances all three unique shows next week! But the Thursday show is a special treat, with Jessica Gaby, the dancer of synchronous and curious coincidence, accompanying Emily, dancing their co-choreographed elixir to Michael's 9 and a half minute Rhapsody, "Live to Sing". Beautifully Brilliant!

Creative Creature Community

Vision is a powerful tool. A great musician once told Michael, "If you can visualize your fingers playing the song, it is more effective than practicing hours and hours a day." The more we can imagine and visualize, the greater our accomplishments can be. As a visionary, Michael "sees" how she wants to be involved and ways she can connect and grow. The bigger the community you have, the more vision you can create!

As you know, we have been sharing in a greater mission by cultivating a mind state of sustainability, with our sisters in the arts, for the M.A.L.I. Festival. The festival catalyzed opportunities to connect with the Austin community. We've pulled together resources with the artists at GAGA, repurposed materials in a creative way, making our show attire from donations, got the kids involved with the process of being in a creative community, making band merchandise and learning music with Michael.

The GAGA GALA was a special event. Michael contributed her time and creativity to appreciative participants, who brought her vision into reality.. the construction of her performance materials with the talents of her fans.

This Thursday, May 21, South Congress St. Bridge, 7PM - We are having one final public appearance before the MALI Festival. We'll be hanging out together underneath the South Congress Bridge, with the Austin Bat Colony. Yes, real bats! They were kind enough to pose for our band poster. We'll be jamming, selling festival tickets, and painting together on the Creature Community Canvas! Come out and paint at sunset with the band. They might give you some cake.

And tomorrow, tune in to KOOP 91.7FM, at 11am to hear another local artist, Joanna Barbera and the director of the M.A.L.I Festival, P.O.W., do an in-studio interview on "What's a girl to do?"

And tune in again on May 25th, 11am for Michael's on-air appearance!! P.O.W. and Michael share their mission and their vision and set the stage for the Women's Film and performance Arts Festival, just 10 days away!!

Window into Process

Hello Everyone!

Come out and create! Get your MALI Festival tickets and remember...everything we need is already within us and is always available to us.

We just want to say how amazing it has been to meet all of you new creatures and how grateful we are to be sharing and building a talent bank in this creative community of Austin! We had such a great turnout at the GAGA Anniversary Show Gathering and we're looking forward to seeing you all again this Saturday, at the GAGA GALA and future performances at the M.A.L.I. FESTIVAL!!

The GAGA Gala is May 9th at the US Art Authority - $5 at the door, from 1PM - 12am. $10 after 6PM, it becomes a more adult-oriented get-together. Michael has been making prototypes of original patches, dresses, and accessories, and other Creature Rock items that you can come make with us at the Gala. She will be there from 3-7pm, making costumes, teaching anyone who wants to learn how to sew/design at the swap tables! She's walking the runway in designer clothes made by local artisans who use repurposed and organic materials. Come make a creative outfit and walk the runway with Michael! Grab a CD and check out the world of GAGA, and stay for Baruzuland's shadow puppet theatre!

We've learned a lot from working with the artists at The Greater Austin Garbage Arts!

Sustainable living through identifying what we can do to extend the lifespan of nonrecyclable items and building community that supports experimentation and creative solutions: Michael actually collected her trash for a week, like Dottii recommended, to see what her consumer patterns were like. Understanding the "reduce waste" mindset not only cut the amount of things she threw out by 3/4ths, but also extended her creatively in her home activities by finding ways to repurpose, (Who knew that was possible!) and has generally cultivated a sense of personal responsibility and mindfulness.

And thanks to GAGA for sharing their knowledge and resources and introducing us to all sorts of creative helping hands, who taught us everything from screen printing, to specialized stitchery, learning how to acquire donations, and helping Creature Rock figure out ways to make things work! We are privileged to be a part of these awesome events! Nothing is wasted on us! Come get your tickets to Michael's upcoming performances, tomorrow at the GALA, while we work together on our finale costumes for the M.A.L.I. Festival and share our learnings with you.

The Creature says, "All the fabrics I am sewing, to beautify Austinites unknowing, of our music we're bestowing with creative stitchery a flowing!"

Creature Rock's MALI performance is shaping up into something truly worth attending! We have two dancers, 3 killer set lists at 3 awesome venues, and an impressive roster of other performers in the lineup...

Sustainability in the Creative Community

Michael Creature is Joan of Art (oh wait, that’s her guitar’s name!) She is coalescing with dynamic organizations that share the common goals of education, cooperation, sustainability, and creativity!

Showcasing this year for the Media Arts Literacy Institute’s (M.A.L.I.) Women’s Film & Performance Arts Festival, Michael is being sponsored by the Greater Austin Garbage Arts (GAGA), and hosting a trio of community collaborations for creatures of all ages!

They are a co-op comprised of a group of artists and visionaries concerned with the effects and impact of waste materials on our environment. Greetings fellow creatures,

The first half of the Creature Sessions transpired in February. The creature crew lived in the studio together for a week and the splendiferous chemistry of musicianship and creativity crystallized into an immanently powerful recording!

Michael introduced her harmonious, euphonious cronies, James "Ichabod" Harwood (drums) of Austin,TX and Mike-E McKevitt on bass (E standing for "eminent" today) of San Francisco, CA, for the first time, to work together in proper session style with our luminary Creature. There is a congruence of meaning and sound in the music that has has stayed true to her vision while interconnecting the diligence and experimentation of her players.

Michael has taken it upon herself to completely engineer the record! Her creative intent is guiding all aspects of artistic execution. She is always in service to the work while challenging her talented collaborators. Fortunately, she is spiritedly supported by her soul-mate and couterpart, Mathew, who helps with assisting the board and is contributing harmonica! These are the creative creatures who are preparing for the last half of the anticipated Creature Sessions album, which we would like to announce will be released on pink vinyl later this year!

Other-worldly delights inspired our all star players. Alongside Mike-E's night sky, sparkle purple, Rickenbacker bass (say it 7 times really fast), a propitious meteorite fireball streaked across Austin while the song "Star Child" was being tracked. It was originally suspected to be remnants from the recent satellite crash. Oh yeah, and our little mercury spill, but we won't talk about that!

Get your ticket money out your elephant pinky bank! The 9th annual M.A.L.I. Women's Film and Performance Arts Festival is showcasing the hottest women in fashion, film, and music! So of course, Michael Scott Parker will be there! All the proceeds go to at-risk teen girls. "This event is the number one source to experience innovative multi-media art in Austin,TX. Festival dates are May 28-31." We will update you on the stages and times Creature Rock will be performing!

Michael is humbled to be recognized as a luminary to so many people. Recently, she fulfilled another request to a scholar of numeral systems from Slovene, by the name of Janko Gorenc, who asked Michael to contribute her "dream language" Euthinethany's numbers to his research database of various natural and con-language systems. Janko's project consists of numbers in 14,000 sets (languages / dialects in both natural and conlangs together)! There is an update of the numbers Michael contributed on her art page.

We have had such an outpouring of appreciation from our international fans recently! We would like to thank all of you who have been writing to Michael! We are so happy to hear the music is spreading all the way out to Germany, Poland, the UK and China! Due to popular demand, with the huge number of requests for autographed photos for those of you who don't get to see Michael perform in the US, we are offering them for a limited time with purchase of a CD, T-shirt, or small print of Michael's art (see art and music pages). So many amazing polymaths out there! One of our favorite places to read about intelligent art is the wonderful MAKE magazine. We want to send big love and congratulations to our steampunk artist compatriots featured in the current issue MAKE:17 - Molly Friedrich and Jake von Slatt! Jake (on the cover with his Incredible Wimshurst Spark Generator) reviewed the album Naked back in 2008. Molly "Porkshanks", a Seattle-based costume / jewelry artist, made Michael's creature goggles for stage, that we've had so many compliments on! Be sure to read her article on building the "Discreet Companion" ladies' raygun! There is also a great article on one of Michael's all time favorite creators, William Blake, and his process of "illuminated printing."

Greetings fellow creatures,

It's turning into a habit of love - Creature Rock will be performing again at Jovita's on South 1st. in South Austin, on Tuesday, Jan 6 at 6:30PM! Come witness the cutting edge of art rock research performed live, while you sip a margarita.

lf you are not aware, 2009 has been declared (by Michael) to be the "Year of the Creature"... A year where imagination defies the constraints of time. Modern humans can reasonably expect 80 or so years, total, to explore what we think to be a short linear line in existence.

General relativity says, when traveling very close to the speed of light - you experience a distortion in time. Your experience of time stays the same yet you see a fast forwarded version of the rest of the universe. A second situation is more interesting, and involves the mysterious gravitational force: the closer you are to mass, the slower time moves. One could imagine living on the Earth, road tripping in outer space, having numerous experiences, and then returning, with only minutes having elapsed on Earth. It's a little more complicated than that, but bear with us.

The creative process is like gravitational time dilation ~ a moment is stretched out.... to fully experience and explore it, you must involve your inner creature and forget the idea of time. You return with new insight and vision and it makes sense to write it into your 150 year homework. I do hope you are working on your 150 year life plan, but now you have the understanding that time is not linear! At least that's Michael's philosophy. If you've ever experienced slipping into the gap, you know that time dilation is real and within human control!

Michael has been recently exploring the relationship between art and science, and has committed to studying her peers in the the papers of Leonardo Music Journal. One of her New Year's resolutions is to become involved with the musicians who write and create in this research and to one day be published in the MIT academic journals herself. God knows she's written enough articles!! The Leonardo Music Journal documents other explorers' paths through the creative process, and is bedside reading for creatures everywhere..... Did you know that David Byrne is published?

Speaking of God... Over the past few weeks, two concepts have been cross-pollinating the Pink Elephant Studio - preparation and improvisation. And how a mortal summons these powers into the awareness of spirit in service to the Great Consciousness of the human expression.

The practice of music is rooted in self expression. Yet we slow down our tempo and put our intention into a present state that prepares us for the moment when we share and improv with our audiences.

We practice opening the subconscious to channel our spirit through our art in a way that can be achieved again and again. When confronted with the question of summoning motivation, a simple solution to understand, is that practice requires no motivation! It is only a commitment to time. When you commit to practicing something daily, anything at all, there is awakening within us that allows the spirit to come through our intention and into form. It is the spirit that motivates and animates the human expression.

Beautiful Beings!

A departure from the solar system

Expand with me for a minute. This is a photo of Earth from the edge of the solar system.

(Earth is the wee tiny blue dot in the middle of the brightest ray on the right.)

We live in an inconceivably large universe, and our entire world is but a pixel in an e-mail in the mind of God.

When we broaden our awareness, our consciousness begins to "...sense more than our physical surroundings," as Michael sings. Astronauts have long reported a permanent change in their consciousness when viewing the Earth from orbit, it's called the Overview Effect.

For Michael Creature, this is how songs are born. Incidentally, Michael is not the only minstrel to hear the "serenade from the stars." Click here to listen to an old Steve Miller favorite, but only if you promise to listen to the lyrics...

Speaking of departures and consciousness - unusual as usual - Michael recently picked up a copy of Kate Bush's latest album, Aerial, after her mom commented on their musical similarities. Supposedly when she was 2 years old, Michael was dancing to Kate's music with her mom, herself an eccentric artist. Recently rediscovering Kate's music, Michael has found uncanny and unusual similarities!

The album art of Aerial has images of Pro Tools waveforms mixed together with blackbird images, titled "Soundwave of Blackbird Song" written on the image. Coincidentally, this visual juxtaposition was also a guiding concept during the composition of Michael's song "Blackbird"!

Departure from the Usual - the sculptures of Joyce DiBona

Joyce DiBona is a woman of powerful imagination and authentic surrender to her art form. Michael was captivated by the artist recently, when given a tour of her studio - a room of bodies, tattooed with cosmic meaning, born from pervasive skill. Joyce shared a video of her artistic process, documenting the 6-month-long creation of a sculpture to be unveiled at the NYC Biennal. The Inevitable

Oh My!! Congratulations to our new visionary President-elect! Back in September, an extraordinarily vivid vision came to Michael in the early morning, where her room turned white with light, and she experienced a Godly presence. She was informed by this vision that Obama would "raise the consciousness of the people," and saw him move effortlessly through a parted crowd, and ascend to a podium. He opened his mouth and light flooded from his eyes, mouth, and ears. Her prediction was realized last night during his acceptance speech in Chicago. The human spirit, rooted in the field of all possibilities, is the heart center of the American soul. And baby, we got soul!

The spirits are still dancing from last week's pre-halloween show, and Michael the Minstrel Muse is inviting you again out to Jovita's in South Austin on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 6:30PM, to release your inner creature! Wear your Oh My! t-shirt or pick one up at the show.

Hello Beautiful People!

The recording studio in Austin is beyond the previous expectations of Oh My! Music. Michael and the Pink Elephant muses are soaring through the the skies of the Creature Sessions, revealing an album deep in her soul's consciousness. Who said elephants can't fly?

The song entitled "Blackbird" is predominantly Michael's passionate piano and spirited vocals. She stated that the entire wave form of the audio at the printing desk looks just like birds flying! "I'll sing a harmony and it resembles another blackbird with its wing span protracted. I know then, that I have sung it correctly."

The Pink Elephant studio is anticipating the arrival of Michael's San Francisco bassist and great friend, Mike McKevitt, flying in to record in the coming weekend! Yay!

Michael Creature will performing some new tunes from the Creature Sessions at Jovita's in Austin, on October 28th, at 6:30pm. She will be introducing herself to the locals that day. Come out and meet her!

As she has been meeting her new neighbors in the Music Capital, people keep asking her, "Where are YOU FROM?!" Some of you fans say she is from Andromeda (albeit her star language). Michael's wikipedia entry says she was raised around the globe. (yeah she's in the encyclopedia these days) The rockin' review from West Coast Performer Magazine says she's "seemingly risen from the sea!"

But Michael will tell you....."I'm from the future. We manifest things instantaneously there and we do a lot of dancing. It's an amazing place."

She's a song bird, she's a plane, she's a shooting star!

Hello All! Beautiful people far and dear...

'Tis true, I have been aviating around the planet a bit this past month and half. Exploring Portland to Texas. And I should probably let you all know that I am hitting the road in a moving van Friday and waving sweet good-byes to San Francisco.... Helloo Austin! Amazing synchronicities, signs pointing, and symbols strengthening my soul, have led my spirit again. With the 5 months of strict recording ahead of me (Creature Sessions), opening into a bigger recording studio space and bringing new energy into the rooms with me, will set this album on fire! Although I adore my little studio here in the heart of the city by the bay, everything is bigger in Texas, (that's what they say:) Austin has really captured my heart and soul! Some of you know that I am writing a manifesto on the creative lifestyle and my journey/process. My good friend, Alban, encouraged me to write about my intuitive nature and life as the "work" that I do. My music and art are really just the discipline I use to learn about myself. My work is more about following the directions of the All Knowing Universe. Trust me that good "work", art and spirit, writing and performing are Austin's voice to me.

Thanks so much to TRUE SAKE! For having Michael perform and publishing her spotlight writing for their 5th anniversary! If you have a second, please read the article Michael wrote about True Sake, and what they wrote about her! As a lover and enthusiast of rice wine, she was honored to get to write and perform for her favorite store in Hayes Valley! Love you Beau, Miwa, and Lynette!

In case you haven't heard of photojojo, check out this great resource for photography online! Michael, her husband Mathew, and her brother Sebastian, recently modeled for photojojo's upcoming book of cool projects you can do with photographs, as compiled from their newsletter techniques! Michael modeled hand bags and spy cameras on her pink scooter. And Michael, Mathew, and Sebastian were immortalized into dolls of themselves:) Be sure to get a copy of the book when it comes out! Super fun projects!

As a side project, Michael did some production designing on a short film and spent a few weeks score composing and learning Sibelius. With this software, Michael is learning to arrange sheet music for big pieces. (Michael hopes to release a book of her sheet music alongside Creature Sessions.) Michael searched out artists to commission props for the film, and with great luck found Molly Friedrich and Jake Von Slatt. These exceptional artists are the revolutionary heart of the great steampunk art of this era! Molly built Michael the aviator creature goggles she wears in the picture above, and has been a great inspiration to Michael while defining the visual apect of her new record. The concepts of blackbird, her spirit guide, traveling, being from the stars, and an aviating creature of the sky, are being assembled. Thank you Molly for my beautiful goggles as I travel, body and spirit! And thanks Jake for the great write up on your site! Camping Canyon Creature

Hello beautiful people!

Hello San Francisco! And friends and fans everywhere.

Back to the city-home-studio, at least for a minute, where new energy is put into motion, and old energy is channeled back in! Michael Creature made it back from her solo tour through the Southwest! She embraced the art of recording in her car, rocked electrified on the lip of the Grand Canyon, and composed, most spiritually fulfilled, in the Petrified Forest.

Her travels were funded by shows played from California to Colorado,
in RV parks, music venues, restaurants, private residences, and B&Bs. Thanks to everyone who bought the album, who welcomed live music into
their audio space, especially in places where the Internet has yet to arrive.

Huge love to the Laughing Horse Inn in Taos, NM, where Michael made the stage for 8 nights consecutively, entertaining and performing. Her tour was really infused with cosmic life there, but truly, it was due to the amazing musicians and artists that she communed with.. Special thanks to Ramsey, Grey, Julia, Toni, Erin, Patton, and Donald for bringing so much love, laughter, and wisdom to the music and "to my soul".

So Michael wasn't sleeping in her car the whole time (wink wink). Everyone knows no tour is complete without an impromptu freshening up from many long nights on the road, alone and alive, yet a bit weathered, at a legendary-rock-photographer's creative and comforting homestead, of course! Thanks Baron! we've got the connection!

And out in Colorado, Michael played a full house at one of her favorite spots - Front Range - and reconnected with her co-producer Johnny, who escorted her on to Utah. They have scheduled a week of recording back in the studio in coming months, to work on the upcoming Creature Sessions.

We do want to tell you all about the new album, and the new people contributing, and how Michael has been doing nothing but playing her piano since her return. How no one has really even seen her face , but can her hear intricate finger picking through the alleys of San Francisco. But we can't tell you yet, because she hasn't emerged from her musical bubble. Stay tuned and in tune.

Michael's experiences watching the sunsets in the Southwest, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah have definitely shaped the feel of her new album. But really she was just honored to play with and for so many great people who made her feel as though she was needed and her purpose was recognized. Thanks to all the great bands she had the joy of playing with. Gemma, Stephan, and Numani, your gypsy music still makes me dance and live. Thanks to Grass it Up for loaning me their Martin and sharing the stage.

We should take a moment to remind everyone that Naked is available for sale on iTunes now, search for "oh my naked" and then buy a copy!

Let's all take a moment of silence for a long-time companion of Michael's her loving canine protector shar-pei/lab mix Huaningu, who has
passed on after 7 years of unconditional love. Huaningu accompanied Michael from the east coast to the west, and is sorely missed.

A new bio is up, and we are doing some ongoing redesigns to accommodate to many of our new friends and fans, so check back frequently.

And last but vital, especially for us musicians, I have recently become involved in a project for musicians in San Francisco County, called MAP. (The Musician's Acupunture Project). It is the brainchild of licensed acupuncturist Amy Hanks, and the treatments are addressing and relieving stresses induced by extended performances. Interesting fact: Chinese medicine and acupuncture can address pain, arthritis, carpal tunnel, repetitive strain injuries, respiratory issues, eye, ear, throat, emotions, addiction control, and many other symptoms overlooked by western medicine. Hello beautiful people!

It's been quite a wild ride over the past 6 months for the edgy rock diamond, Michael Scott Parker. And quite a lot of work and discipline. But all for the sake of creature rock. She is pleased to bring you the new and improved, creative and uncompromising, sensual and intellectual Oh My! Lots of good news for you all!!!! And again, we thank you for your support, interest, and unconditional love!!

Michael creature moved the Pink Elephant recording studio to the center of San Francisco, CA! Great job to M&M management for getting Oh My! to the center of the creative movement. There is a major transition going on in the music industry right now that has led us to think about the level of artistic independence demanded by Michael's pursuits.

As an entrepreneur in her own right, Michael has successfully incorporated as an independent record label, Oh My! Music!!!!!!!!!! The vision is to involve the most talented artists and musicians, and provide authentic music, visual/audio media, and unique performances to her audiences in the Bay area and beyond.

Like we said before, the music industry is changing. This is not your typical record label, but then again, Oh My! isn't your typical band! The business/label/music publishing company serves the creatives and their array of projects and authentic products. Along with the release of world wide distributed music and eccentric music performances, the business will be organizing art shows and releasing printed media from select artists, photographers, and designers. And you are going to love the Oh My! merchandise, which is based on Michael's paintings and comic book characters. This is the place to get not only your favorite art-wares, but where you also support the artists and musicians who make them, directly!

The long-awaited album, Naked, is worth the anticipation. In addition to the move to California, the rebanding process, and production and mastering on the album, Michael has completed an entire series of acrylic paintings, which are featured as the album art. And the powerfully striking album cover has the fingerprint of none other than (Rolling Stone magazine's first photographer) Baron Wolman!

Naked will be available for sale soon off creaturerock.com, cdbaby.com, and itunes. Also, we will have shirts and stickers available at shows and online.
