Karen Spritzer-Flores
Michael has gone on to reband in Texas, and thanks Karen for the beautiful music she brought to Creature Rock! I hope to see you out here on Austin stages.
Karen Spritzer Flores is a Colorado Spings muscian who began studying violin at the age of ten, and began playing piano at an even earlier age, picking out songs, which led her into composing at the age of twelve. Her work is layered with multidimensional harmonies, severe lyrics, and colorful changes.
Karen has performed with four bands. One of which was OH MY!, her latest and first time all-origianl venture. She has played approximately 175 live shows over a six-year span.
Having had joined with Michael Scott Parker the two went on
to perform multiple shows together. They recorded and wrote in Colorado as a powerful duo, and established an undeniably
phenomenal musical partnership.
In the time Karen was playing with Oh My!, she continued to compose tunes of her own. Michael encouraged Karen's style and liked the tunes so much, she volunteered to produce a few of them. This was Michael's first experience recording and producing for another musician. She had planned to put those songs on Oh My!'s album, Naked, but when the winds of change pulled Michael westward, their active partnership was shelved.
Two of Karen's original songs are available here; both were produced by Michael Scott Parker and mastered by John Standish. Michael hopes to someday reconnect with Karen and finish recording and producing a full length album for her.
"Karen's a sensitive creator, which is vital. And when you get her in the creative process, she is 100% there. She's unbelievably talented."
